Why are pronouns so important?

Pronouns, like names, are a way to identify folks when talking about them in conversation or in reference to them.

Since pronouns are gendered in the English language, it can become a point of harm/aggression as well as a point of validation/affirmation for transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive folks.
